Smith Industries is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Saw Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for cutting raw materials to specification, operating shop equipment, and supporting production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and inspect the saw daily to ensure safe operation.
  • Read blueprints and Bills of Material (BOMs) to cut materials to the required specifications.
  • Measure and cut material accurately using a tape measure.
  • Replace saw blades and maintain coolant and water levels as needed.
  • Label cut materials and drop material with the appropriate information.
  • Cut material for the Vessel Shop and Tank Shop.
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely.
  • Complete daily equipment inspections and required production documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with shop supervisors, leads, and production teams.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Work weekends as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Manufacturing or saw operation experience preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools accurately.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
