GENERAL PURPOSE

Ensures that environmental health and safety (EH&S) system requirements are established, implemented and maintained with conformance to the MillerKnoll EH&S managements systems and goals. Provide EH&S leadership, coaching and technical support for corporate or facility-based assignments and projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Administer EH&S programs that relate to the various government agencies and industry certifications.
  • Assists EH&S department management in assuring continuity and consistency of corporate EH&S policies and procedures enterprise wide.
  • Collaborates with internal and external groups regarding process changes impacting EH&S.
  • Facilitate achievement of corporate and site specific environmental and safety goals though specific site-based assignments or corporate scope projects.
  • Identify, communicate, and document regulatory requirements and compliance to various levels of the organization from the shop floor to CEO level.
  • Maintain EH&S performance records and report on performance to goals as required.
  • Maintain Management System associated with EH&S
  • Provide leadership and technical support to EH&S committees and operational teams.
  • Conduct training and develop trainers of EHS content.
  • Promote and develop EHS committee members to champion EHS excellence.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in EH&S or related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional certification(s) in the EH&S field are desired.
  • Minimum 3-5 years professional experience in EH&S field, or Minimum 6 to 8 years' experience in full-time EH&S responsibilities without completed degree depending on level of academic achievement.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage projects.
  • Exhibits a high degree of initiative and self-direction, a work style that is action-oriented and proven decision-making ability.
  • Demonstrates the understanding and aptitude for manufacturing processes, equipment and materials.
  • Demonstrated background in technical experience such as control of hazardous energy, industrial hygiene, hazard communications and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Familiar with ISO 14000 and 45000.
  • Working understanding Federal, State, and Industry EH&S codes and regulations.
  • Proven ability to articulate clearly in both written and verbal form.
  • Highly effective communication skills and ability to interact with people of various social/economic backgrounds, work experience and education levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation/communication software and tools used in the MillerKnoll office environment.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions with or without accommodation.
