Position Overview

Texan Glass is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-driven Commercial Glazing Estimator to support our growing commercial division. This role is responsible for assembling accurate bid numbers for storefront, curtainwall, and commercial glazing projects for general contractors, while also assisting with project planning, vendor coordination, and scope development.

The ideal candidate understands commercial glazing systems, can interpret construction plans, and is comfortable working in afast-paced environment where deadlines and precision matter.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating Bidding

· Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents for commercial projects.

· Perform material takeoffs for storefront, curtain wall, entrances, glass, hardware, and related systems.

· Build detailed and accurate bid proposals for general contractors.

· Solicit and compare pricing from vendors and suppliers.

· Identify scope gaps, risk areas, and value-engineering opportunities.

· Track bid deadlines and ensure timely submissions.

Project Support

· Assist with project handoff from estimating to production/installation teams.

· Help clarify scope details with general contractors and project managers.

· Maintain organized records of bids, revisions, and awarded projects.

· Support ongoing cost analysis and budgeting for awarded work.

Coordination Communication

· Communicate with GCs, suppliers, and internal teams to confirm specifications and pricing.

· Participate in pre-bid meetings when needed.

· Help ensure projects are estimated competitively and profitably.

Qualifications

· 2+ years of experience in commercial glazing, estimating, or related construction field (preferred).

· Strong understanding of storefront, curtain wall, and commercial glass systems.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.

· Comfortable performing material takeoffs and building detailed cost estimates.

· Proficiency with Excel and estimating/takeoff software.

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

· Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred Background

· Hands-on experience as a commercial glazier or installer.

· Previous experience working with general contractors.

· Knowledge of commercial construction processes and timelines.

· Familiarity with industry suppliers and material sourcing.
