The Position

The Commissioning Specialist I will work in our Dallas, Texas office and is an entry level position and an integral part of the field operations of quality commissioning (Cx) services. A Commissioning Specialist is responsible for learning from the field observation of installation and testing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life safety systems under direct supervision. A Commissioning Specialist I supports the Cx Team and the process while becoming familiar with the systems and procedures.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrate understanding of testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) principles by completing the TAB Technician Training Program and becoming an AABC certified Test and Balance Technician
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of the construction documentation process by organizing and procuring data.
  • Navigate the equipment and component tree within the commissioning software using the system data and layout, with support from the project leader.
  • Gain familiarity with System Verification Checklists and/or all associated supporting documentation for relevant systems.
  • Understand and use instruments for field measurements.
  • Develop Functional Performance Testing scripts and documents.
  • Facilitate Functional Performance Testing, effectively record testing results and finalize functional testing documents.
  • Effectively communicate issues, outstanding conditions and log completion of items.
  • Understand and apply all project safety requirements, including ladder and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree or technical certificate in Engineering or related field, preferred.

Or

  • No Degree required with significant industry experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing or Life Safety a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized work practices
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working alone on projects
