Scope
Main Functions
Evaluate and provide technical oversight of engineering work performed by internal teams, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with ExxonMobil engineering specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements. Facilitate the execution of engineering and design activities while ensuring effective communication across engineering disciplines and project stakeholders. This role requires strong technical expertise combined with excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Leadership
  • Review and provide technical guidance on engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with company standards and applicable codes.
  • Support engineering and design activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure timely communication of engineering progress, issues, and technical decisions across project teams.
  • Evaluate engineering designs for safety, operability, reliability, and maintainability.
Process Safety & Risk Management
  • Participate in Risk Assessments, HAZOPs, Hazard Hunts, and Critical Operating Parameter Reviews.
  • Perform risk assessments for new facilities, existing facilities, and facility modifications.
  • Develop and track mitigation plans through closure.
Operations & Reliability Support
  • Lead incident investigations involving process safety events, downtime, and operational issues.
  • Lead plant performance testing and operational trials.
  • Develop and improve facility operating guidelines and procedures.
  • Identify operational improvement opportunities and develop project scopes to address them.
Project Support
  • Support opportunity management by identifying improvement projects and developing scopes of work.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, project engineering, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure engineering activities align with business objectives, project schedules, and company procedures.
Leadership
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers and fellow team members.
  • Provide technical leadership during facility improvement initiatives.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration across engineering and operations organizations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • or related engineering discipline
  • Equivalent professional engineering experience may be considered.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications, applicable codes, and safety requirements.
  • Strong understanding of facility engineering and operational support.
  • Experience participating in or leading:
    • HAZOPs
    • Risk Assessments
    • Process Safety reviews
    • Incident Investigations
  • Experience supporting plant operations and facility improvement projects.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a senior facilities engineer with strong upstream oil and gas experience supporting operating assets. They should have experience leading process safety initiatives, HAZOPs, incident investigations, operational troubleshooting, and facility improvement projects while working closely with operations teams. Strong leadership, mentoring ability, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to balance technical engineering responsibilities with day-to-day operational support.
