Functions of this team

Oversight of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Fleet Management, and Carrier Connectivity platforms, including product development, integrations, and end-to-end support for Tyson’s transportation operations across inbound, outbound, and interplant networks. Ownership of EDI onboarding and maintenance for carriers and 3PL partners, system upgrades, enhancements, and integration support to ensure seamless execution of freight planning and tendering. Support 24x7 operations for load planning, execution, and visibility across multiple modes (FTL, LTL, Air, Rail, Ocean). Configuration and implementation of transportation optimization technologies, real-time visibility platforms, and automation solutions such as dynamic routing, telematics, IoT sensors, and predictive analytics.

Functions of this position

Technical product ownership of Transportation Management Systems and related applications, including product development, integrations, and end-to-end lifecycle support. Lead engagement and vendor management for third-party transportation solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives, technology strategy and operational excellence. Drive system enhancements, configuration, and implementation for the following applications:

  • SAP Product Suite (TM, EM, GTS, BTP, etc.)
  • Tyson Transportation Execution System (In-house Java-based Truck Execution system)
  • FourKites Product Suite (CoreTrack, Rail Load Visibility, Carrier Scorecard)
  • Fleet Management Systems (McLeod LoadMaster Enterprise, Samsara Telematics, Cetaris Fleet Maintenance, and other fleet management tools)
  • Analytics Platforms (PowerBI dashboards, Palantir for transportation insights)

Experience with configuration, integration, and implementation of SAP Transportation solutions as well as carrier connectivity solutions (EDI/API), visibility platforms, and optimization engines. Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AI/ML, IoT for asset tracking, predictive ETA algorithms, and AI-driven transportation planning is highly desirable.

Staff Enterprise Solution Architect                                                                                       

The Staff Enterprise Solution Architect collaborates with Product Owners and Enterprise Technical Architects to design and implement project/product solutions that meet business needs while adhering to established technology standards. ESA are premier experts in one or more business domains and have deep knowledge of system functionality, interfaces, and capabilities within their area of responsibility. They can analyze the functionality and constraints of recommended solutions/changes across multiple systems/platforms/applications and ensure compatibility, interoperability, stability, and usability of the proposed solution architecture. Staff Architects in Enterprise Solution Architecture have one or more functional areas of focus, e.g., Finance, HR, Manufacturing, Sales, etc. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Scope of Coverage is one business area.  
  • Scope of Influence is the direct partner team(s) and business area they represent.   Governance is a mix of tactical and strategic 
  • Training and mentorship of partner teams within their area of expertise (tech area, business function) 
  • Perform other assigned job-related duties that align with our organization's vision, mission, and values and fall within your scope of practice. 

Architecture Design and Review & Portfolio Management: 

  • Design scalable, reliable, and secure architecture solutions that align with business goals and technical requirements.   
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide guidance to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.  
  • Maintain application portfolio in one’s area in collaboration with IT & Business Partner teams and leaders. 

Cross-Disciplinary Expertise: 

  • Leverage expertise in software development, quality, and infrastructure engineering to provide holistic architectural solutions.  
  • Ensure seamless integration of development, quality, and infrastructure components.  

Technology Evaluation and Selection: 

  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, tools, and platforms that align with enterprise standards and business needs, including third-party solutions.  
  • Conduct proof-of-concept (PoC) projects to validate technology choices.  
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and ensure that tools and services meet enterprise standards. 

Collaboration and Communication: 

  • Provide training and mentorship to non-technical teams to ensure adherence to processes and standards. 
  • Collaborate with development, quality, and infrastructure teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.   
  • Facilitate communication and knowledge sharing across teams and departments. 

Continuous Improvement: 

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance technical standards and practices. 
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the enterprise remains competitive.  

Qualifications:  

Education: Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Quantitative or Engineering Field preferred.  

Preferred Certification(s): TOGAF, Cloud (AWS or GCP), Security, SAP, SAFe.  

Experience: 7+ years of relevant and practical experience.  

Special Skills:

  • Deep functional expertise and moderate technical expertise in one or more areas of focus, e.g., Finance, HR, Manufacturing, Sales, etc.  
  • The ability to understand and explain highly complex processes and functional concepts to non-technical team members and leaders.   
  • Self-driven ability to design or vet new solutions, influence decision-makers and collaborate with Business Units to oversee the successful implementation of those solutions. 

Candidate’s “must have” skills:

Product Management Experience: Extensive experience in product management, preferably in a senior role.

Agile Methodologies: Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.

Stakeholder Management: Excellent skills in managing and communicating with stakeholders at all levels.

User-Centric Design: Proficiency in user-centered design principles and practices.

Market Research: Ability to conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform product decisions.

Roadmap Development: Experience in developing and managing product roadmaps.

Technical Understanding: Solid understanding of technology and the software development lifecycle.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Leadership: Proven leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Candidate’s “nice to have” skills:

Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or PMI-ACP. Experience with Specific Tools: Familiarity with product management tools like JIRA, Confluence, Clarity, or similar.

Industry Experience: Experience in the specific industry relevant to the company (e.g., food production, technology, etc.).

Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.

UX/UI Design: Basic knowledge of UX/UI design principles.

MBA or Advanced Degree: An MBA or other relevant advanced degree.

Global Product Management: Experience managing products in a global market.

Innovation and Creativity: Demonstrated ability to innovate and think creatively.

Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial principles and the ability to manage budgets.

Networking: Strong professional network within the industry.
