What You’ll DoÂ
Drive and operate a tractor trailer combination while monitoring the temperature of a refrigerated trailerÂ
Ensure all required shipping documentation, including manifests, security seal sheets, bills of lading, shipping orders, freight bills, and related paperwork, is available for inspection and accompanies each shipment when deliveredÂ
Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations, including driver logs, fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law and company policyÂ
Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures while complying with Federal, State, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicleÂ
Represent Tyson Foods safely and professionally when interacting with customers and the publicÂ
Support transportation operations through Local, Regional, and Over-the-Road driving opportunities, depending on business needs and candidate qualificationsÂ
Consider Yard Driver opportunities when available to gain additional experience and build toward future CDL driving rolesÂ
Work EnvironmentÂ
Tyson Foods maintains its own fleet of Volvo, Freightliner, and Kenworth trucksÂ
Equipment is well maintained, with trucks no more than four years oldÂ
Tyson Foods provides driver-focused equipment such as an APU, inverter, and refrigeratorÂ
Trucks are automatic transmission and governed at the posted speed limit, up to 70 mphÂ
Work may include Local, Regional, Over-the-Road, or Yard Driver assignments depending on location, business needs, and experience levelÂ
Drivers may operate in a variety of settings, including highways, customer locations, distribution centers, terminals, truck yards, and loading dock areasÂ
Work may include extended periods of driving, sitting, backing, coupling, uncoupling, inspecting equipment, and entering or exiting the tractorÂ
Drivers may work around refrigerated trailers, moving equipment, shipping areas, and changing weather or road conditionsÂ
Safe driving, defensive driving, trip planning, communication, accurate documentation, and compliance with DOT and company requirements are essentialÂ
How Military Experience FitsÂ
Your military experience may be considered in lieu of some civilian experience requirements outlined below.  Your Military driving experience will be considered when calculating compensation. The following are shown for guidance only as potential roles that would translate well to CDL driving opportunities. Equivalent civilian experience will also be considered. Â
Motor Transport Operators, Vehicle Operators, or Motor Vehicle OperatorsÂ
Tactical vehicle, tractor trailer, heavy truck, or fuel vehicle driversÂ
Convoy drivers, convoy leaders, transportation section leaders, or dispatch support personnelÂ
Petroleum, oil, lubricant, or fuel distribution personnel with heavy vehicle operating experienceÂ
Equipment Operators who have operated heavy wheeled vehicles, construction equipment, or transport vehiclesÂ
Logistics, supply, movement control, or transportation personnel with documented vehicle operation responsibilitiesÂ
Service members who held a military driver’s license or operated vehicles comparable to commercial motor vehiclesÂ
Military personnel with experience completing vehicle inspections, trip documentation, safety checks, dispatch paperwork, load securement, or regulated transportation activitiesÂ

Army: 88M Motor Transport Operator, 92F Petroleum Supply Specialist, 14T Patriot Launching Station Enhanced Operator or MaintainerÂ
Air Force: 2T1X1 Vehicle Operations, 2F0X1 Fuels, 3E2X1 Pavements and Construction EquipmentÂ
Navy: EO Equipment Operator, CM Construction Mechanic, LS Logistics Specialist with documented transportation or vehicle operation experienceÂ
Marine Corps: 3531 Motor Vehicle Operator, 3521 Automotive Maintenance Technician, 1391 Bulk Fuel Specialist with documented heavy vehicle or fuel transport experienceÂ
