POSITION SUMMARY

The Sector General Manager – Commercial & Industrial is responsible for the overall leadership, growth, and performance of Buffalo Builders’ commercial and industrial construction division entailing oversight of projects such as office, retail, mixed-use, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, warehouses, and other commercial and industrial developments. This role oversees all aspects of the business unit, including preconstruction, operations, financial performance, project execution, client relationships, and strategic development.

As a key member of leadership, the Sector General Manager drives market expansion, ensures operational excellence, and builds high-performing teams to deliver successful projects from preconstruction through completion. This individual plays a critical role in shaping the division’s long-term strategy and profitability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Program Leadership

  • Establish, structure, and lead Buffalo’sSGM –Commercial& Industrialdivision.
  • Lead planning and execution for multiple major capital projects.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between engineering partners, fabricators, internal design teams, and field leadership.
  • Drive alignment across design, construction, safety, and commissioning teams.

2. Preconstruction Management

  • Lead scoping, work breakdown structure development, and execution planning.
  • Oversee estimating templates and ensure consistency across sequential projects.
  • Identifylong-lead equipment and drive early procurement strategy.
  • Support contract strategy and subcontractorselection.
  • Evaluate industrial-specific requirements such as equipment integration, utilities, and sitelogistics.
  • Coordinate with process engineers and specialized vendors where applicable.

3. Construction Execution

  • Maintain accountability for on-time, on-budget delivery of all projects in the program portfolio.
  • Oversee project controls, scheduling, cost reporting, and change management.
  • Drive safety, quality, and environmental compliance across all sites.
  • Oversee execution of industrial projects including facilities with complex mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
  • Ensure coordination of equipment installation, commissioning, and operational readiness.

4. Team Building & Leadership

  • Recruit and develop a high-performing team of PMs, superintendents, engineers, project controls personnel, and commissioning specialists.
  • Build a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and repeatable execution.
  • Mentor junior team members and cultivate future leaders.

5. Financial Performance

  • Own budgets, forecasts, earned value reporting, and cost-to-complete analyses.
  • Protect OH&P and margin targets across all projects.
  • Identify, quantify, and mitigate project risk.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on project financing considerations and program planning.

6. Systems, Standards & Repeatability

  • Establish templates for estimating, scheduling, reporting, and operational readiness.
  • Lead continuous improvement across projects and incorporate lessons learned into future designs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree inConstruction Managementor related field.
  • 10–15+ years of progressive experience in construction, withsignificant experienceincommercialAND/OR industrial constructionprojects.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L and driving profitability.
  • Proven ability to coordinate engineering and field construction teams.
  • Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong background with project controls (schedule, cost, forecasting).
