Job Title: Construction Site Superintendent

The Construction Site Superintendent serves as the on-site leader and primary representative of Federal Construction. This role is responsible for coordinating daily field operations, managing craftsmen, and ensuring the project is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.

You will work closely with the Project Manager and General Superintendent to clarify scopes, plan upcoming work, and drive field execution. You will also interface directly with owners, client representatives, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with a strong focus on client satisfaction.

What You’ll Do

Field Leadership & Scheduling

  • Direct and schedule daily activities of craftsmen, subcontractors, material deliveries, testing agencies, inspections, and site labor
  • Conduct regular on-site progress meetings with crews, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination
  • Plan upcoming work weeks in advance to prevent conflicts, rework, and delays
  • Optimize sequencing to compress schedules while maintaining quality standards

Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Meet regularly with client representatives to provide project updates and address concerns
  • Coordinate with Project Manager and General Superintendent on scope clarification and planning
  • Maintain strong working relationships with owners, design teams, and inspectors

Safety, Quality & Site Standards

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite through consistent housekeeping practices
  • Enforce all safety rules and ensure compliance from all personnel on site
  • Verify all work meets contract documents, plans, and specifications
  • Ensure construction quality meets Federal Construction standards, including workmanship (plumb, level, straight, etc.)
  • Actively reduce warranty issues through daily oversight and quality control

Cost, Documentation & Administration

  • Control project costs through efficient resource use and value engineering
  • Maintain complete and accurate project documentation, including:
    • Time sheets
    • Daily reports
    • Progress photos
    • Inspection and testing records
  • Prepare and update as-built drawings as work progresses
  • Supervise punch list completion through final closeout

Hands-On Field Work & Equipment

  • Perform light carpentry, formwork, concrete placement, and finish work as needed
  • Operate small equipment including skid steers, scissor lifts, core drills, and concrete saws
  • Assist with site cleanup and general field tasks when required

Continuous Improvement

  • Proactively identify issues before they impact schedule or cost
  • Capitalize on daily opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and execution
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum 5 years of construction experience
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial general contractor site supervision experience
  • OSHA 10 certified

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Broad knowledge of construction phases, trades, and sequencing
  • Ability to “stack” schedules and drive aggressive but realistic timelines
  • Strong communication skills (in person, email, MS Office, mobile devices)
  • Analytical thinker who can evaluate issues from multiple perspectives
  • Proactive problem solver who anticipates and removes obstacles
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and personalities

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain and climb ladders
  • Ability to perform occasional concrete and carpentry work
