Job Description:

The Certified Athletic Trainer serves as a physician extender, providing occupational health services under the direction of a licensed physician or advanced practice provider and in accordance with the Missouri Athletic Training Practice Act. The Athletic Trainer supports the evaluation and management of work-related injuries, occupational health examinations, injury prevention initiatives, and return-to-work services.
In addition to direct patient care, the Athletic Trainer partners with employer clients to deliver comprehensive occupational health services including OSHA First Aid, early symptom intervention, ergonomic assessments, Job Demands Analyses (JDA), Post-Offer Employment Testing (POET), Tactical Athlete and Industrial Athlete programs, injury prevention initiatives, and workforce wellness services. This position collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, physical therapists, employers, and clinic staff to improve employee health, reduce workplace injuries, and promote safe and timely return to work.

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited institution.

  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or a related healthcare field.

Experience:

  • Preferred: Previous experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer.

  • Preferred: Experience in occupational medicine, orthopedics, physical therapy, industrial rehabilitation, sports medicine, or related healthcare settings.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong clinical reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal evaluation, injury prevention, rehabilitation principles, and occupational health practices.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, employers, healthcare providers, and community partners.

  • Ability to educate individuals and groups regarding injury prevention, workplace safety, and health promotion.

  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer applications.

  • Commitment to patient confidentiality, professionalism, and exceptional service.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Required: Current Missouri Athletic Trainer License is active and in good standing.

  • Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
