We are seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering to lead a highly skilled team developing advanced RF-enabled satellite systems. This role is responsible for driving the end-to-end electrical design of spacecraft platforms and payloads, while mentoring engineers and ensuring successful delivery of flight hardware.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who thrives at the intersection of RF systems, electronics design, and space hardware development.
- Lead the design and development of digital, analog, and power electronics for satellite flight hardware
- Oversee architecture and implementation of RF payloads, including software-defined radios, RF front ends, and antenna systems
- Review and approve schematics, PCB layouts, and system-level designs, ensuring performance and manufacturability
- Partner with contract manufacturers to support fabrication, quality control, and delivery of hardware
- Drive hardware validation and testing, including environmental testing, RF performance, and EMI/EMC compliance
- Support system integration efforts, including development of test platforms (e.g., flatsats, EGSE)
- Lead engineering trade studies and support major design reviews (PDR/CDR)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, systems, and test engineering teams
- Mentor and grow a team of electrical and RF engineers while managing priorities, schedules, and technical direction
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, including leadership responsibilities
- Strong background in RF systems, power electronics, and high-speed digital designÂ
- Expertise in PCB design and layout tools (e.g., Altium or similar)Â
- Hands-on experience with flight hardware development, integration, and testingÂ
- Experience working with RF lab equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators)
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC testing and environmental validation Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical team
Desired: - Experience in the smallsat or aerospace industry
- Knowledge of software-defined radios and RF front-end architectures
- Programming experience (Python, C++, or similar)
- Experience with test automation and version control (Git)
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA or Confluence
