The Opportunity
MassMutual isĀ seekingĀ an enthusiastic,Ā well-roundedĀ and motivated individual to lead theĀ AnnuityĀ LiabilityĀ ALMĀ team within theĀ Corporate ActuarialĀ organization,Ā reportingĀ to the Head of Liability ALM Strategy.Ā Ā In thisĀ role, thisĀ leaderĀ will be accountable for ALMĀ strategies ofĀ annuity and annuity-like productsĀ (collectivelyĀ āannuityā orĀ āannuitiesā)Ā inĀ closeĀ collaboration withĀ InvestmentĀ ManagementĀ and Enterprise Risk Management.Ā Ā This leader will also partnerĀ across Corporate Actuarial,Ā CFO,Ā andĀ the pricing teams of the various businessesĀ in driving ALM related priorities.Ā AnnuityĀ products include: MYGA, FIA, VA, Funding Agreements (FABN,Ā FHLB,Ā TradGIC,Ā MuniGIC), PRT, SPIA, DIA, Structured Settlements, and others as assigned.Ā

The Impact
Evaluate, in collaboration with Investment Management and Enterprise Risk Management,Ā the on-going fit and adequacy of existingĀ AnnuityĀ ALMĀ andĀ VA/FIA hedgingĀ strategiesĀ as market environment changesĀ and make strategy,Ā budget and other related recommendations, as applicable, whileĀ taking into accountĀ costs, risks and benefits of alternativesĀ
Evaluate existingĀ AnnuityĀ ALMĀ and VA/FIAĀ liabilityĀ modeling and applicable metrics & measures to improveĀ existing processes and/or make suggested changesĀ
Partner with Investment ManagementĀ and Enterprise Risk Management to drive IOC and CFO agendaĀ and deliver on prioritiesĀ
Critically and logically build financial and/or non-financial analytical models that drive fact-based decision-making to support ALM decisionĀ madeĀ byĀ theĀ leadership teamĀ
Provide thought leadership, technicalĀ expertise, and value-added support & guidance related toĀ AnnuityĀ ALMĀ and VA/FIA hedgingĀ
Support enforcement of corporate guidelines,Ā governanceĀ processesĀ and any other regulatory requirementsĀ
Closely collaborate withĀ Product/PricingĀ andĀ Product Pricing Oversight andĀ to ensure adequacy and appropriateness of asset assumptions and ALM strategies recommended as part of the pricing exerciseĀ
Represent Corporate Actuarial on ALM topicsĀ atĀ various company committeesĀ and working groupsĀ as requiredĀ (VARC, VAOC,Ā FARC,Ā ALWG, IOC, PAC, etc.)Ā
Stay abreast ofĀ emerging regulations as theyĀ impactĀ applicable aspectsĀ ofĀ LiabilityĀ ALM,Ā hedging, economicĀ assumptionsĀ and relatedĀ actuarial workĀ
Participation on select US, International and CorporateĀ projectsĀ and initiativesĀ as applicableĀ
Champion a continuous improvement mindsetĀ
Team leadership, clearĀ communicationĀ andĀ solid partnership with the business and otherĀ departmentsĀ

The Minimum Qualifications
Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA),Ā Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)Ā or equivalent professional credential from recognized professional actuarial associationĀ
7+Ā years ofĀ insurance and annuity experience, preferably in the U.S. market, in areas such asĀ ALM, hedging,Ā pricing, valuation, reinsurance and/or capital managementĀ
Strong knowledge of actuarial and risk management concepts and practices; experience with quantifying,Ā analyzingĀ and managing a range of product risksĀ
Self-motivated and independent with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills;Ā comfortable dealing with both complexity and ambiguity, and able to explore multiple solutions to problems and challengesĀ
Effective time management,Ā planningĀ and organization skillsĀ
Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills: ability to convey complex issues, explain methodologies and influence resolutions in writing and orallyĀ
Ability toĀ rapidlyĀ respond to changes in direction, tightĀ deadlinesĀ and high-pressure situationsĀ
