Information Technology (IT) Intern


Strategic Resources, Inc. SRI is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented IT Intern to support day‑to‑day IT operations and user support activities.

Overview:

The IT Intern will provide hands‑on support to SRI’s Information Technology team, assisting with basic help desk functions, user administration, system monitoring, and IT asset management. This position is ideal for a student or recent graduate seeking practical experience in IT operations, infrastructure monitoring, and end‑user support in a professional services environment. The successful candidate will be eager to learn, dependable, and capable of following established procedures while working under supervision.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier 1 help desk support, including troubleshooting basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Assist with user account administration, including onboarding/offboarding support, password resets, and access verification.
  • Perform daily and periodic system checks, including verification of:
    • Data backup completion and success status
    • CPU utilization
    • RAM utilization
    • System health indicators
  • Document and escalate issues to senior IT staff as appropriate.
  • Assist in maintaining IT asset management records, including tracking hardware, peripherals, licenses, and inventory updates.
  • Support workstation setup, configuration, and deployment for new and existing users.
  • Follow IT policies, security requirements, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with documentation of procedures, checklists, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Perform additional IT‑related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Required Skills, Education, Experience & Abilities:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of desktop operating systems (Windows), common business software, and networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with basic IT concepts such as backups, system performance, and hardware components.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to follow instructions, document work, and ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Professional demeanor and customer‑service mindset when supporting end users.
  • Ability to pass a national background check and maintain suitability.
