JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Director of Nurses in the Care Center, the LPN Floor Supervisor will assist the DON and ADON with planning, coordinating, and managing the LPN clinical services for residents, and implement care as necessary and in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Position communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. Position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

  1. Assist in emergencies, to include assessing the resident, notification of physician and family members, documentation, etc.
  2. Assist with staff orientation.
  3. Supervision and counseling of nursing staff, both autonomous and in collaboration with the RN Supervisor and DON.
  4. Answer the telephone and call lights when the LPN’s are administering medications, and at other times when necessary.
  5. Report any equipment malfunction or supply shortage.
  6. Assist with scheduling when needed to cover openings.
  7. Assist with continuing education and in-services for staff.
  8. Assure that residents receive proper care in a timely manner.
  9. Ensure that residents are in the dining room in a timely manner, that LPN’s assist/supervise/monitor meals and see that residents who require assistance with meals receive it.
  10. Leave a written report for the Director of Nursing – Care Center on any problems with residents, staff, or resident’s families. Please note your interaction in these circumstances.
  11. Maintain competency as LPN Charge Nurse. Assist as needed on the floor.
  12. Keep the LPN/CNA staff up to date on new initiatives.
  13. Monitor LPN staff and their team to assure all resident care is performed appropriately and timely.
  14. Complete other duties as assigned/needed/necessary.

Requirements

Minimum Level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion of high school, and or completion of Licensed Practical Nurse Training course of study.

Formal Training: Management skills with experience in planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, interviewing, counseling, and verbal and written communications.

Licensure, Certification, Registration: Must have and maintain an unencumbered Georgia Licensed Practical Nurse license, and Basic Life Support CPR certification.

Work Experience: One to two years related experience and/or training preferred.
