Maintenance Mechanic – JLL
What this job involves:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility systems and equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable building operations for the State of Illinois client site in Springfield, IL. This role supports day-to-day facility operations through preventive maintenance, repair response, inspections, and general building maintenance activities. The position requires technical knowledge across multiple building trades, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems, while ensuring compliance with safety procedures, work order management standards, and applicable codes and regulations.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Perform preventive maintenance and repair work on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other facility systems and equipment.
Troubleshoot building systems and respond to maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
Conduct facility inspections and report conditions impacting building operations or occupant comfort.
Complete general interior maintenance tasks including furniture repairs, door repairs, hanging fixtures, and minor installations.
Replace lighting components, clean HVAC coils, and change filters and belts as part of routine maintenance activities.
Utilize Corrigo to update work order status in real time and maintain accurate service documentation.
Follow all safety procedures, complete hazard assessments, maintain housekeeping standards, and participate in required safety meetings and trainings.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience maintaining commercial building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair facility equipment independently.
Working knowledge of safety procedures, building codes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Ability to use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), including work order tracking platforms.
Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
Ability to lift, move, and transport equipment, furniture, and materials as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical training or certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related skilled trades.
Experience working in commercial, government, or institutional facilities environments.
Familiarity with central utility plant operations and building automation systems.
Experience using Corrigo or similar CMMS platforms.
Basic knowledge of hazardous material handling and storage procedures.
Multi-trade maintenance experience across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry functions.
Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing operational priorities.
Location: Springfield, IL
Work Shift: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday
Salary: $20.00/hour -$24.00/hour

Estimated compensation for this position:
41,600.00 – 49,920.00 USD per yearThis range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
