Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections of buildings, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment across NNCC facilities. This position requires a dependable individual with strong technical and problem-solving skills who can work independently while supporting the organization's commitment to providing safe and accessible spaces for the community.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform general maintenance and repair work, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs. 
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and facility systems to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment and building systems as needed. 
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, service calls, and work orders. 
  • Perform preventive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and extend the life of facility assets. 

Grounds & Property Maintenance

  • Maintain grounds, parking lots, sidewalks, and common areas in a clean, safe, and presentable condition. 
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance activities, including snow removal, salting, landscaping, and debris removal. 
  • Monitor facility exteriors and report any safety hazards or repair needs. 

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, building codes, and organizational policies. 
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards in a timely manner. 
  • Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE). 
  • Assist with emergency repairs and facility preparedness activities. 

Inventory & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and repair logs. 
  • Track inventory levels of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment. 
  • Recommend purchases and replacements of tools, equipment, and materials as needed. 

Project Support

  • Assist with facility improvements, renovations, office moves, and special projects. 
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors when required. 
  • Support organizational events by assisting with room setup, breakdown, and facility preparation. 


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance. 
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, power tools, and hand tools. 
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Strong communication skills and customer-service orientation..


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous maintenance, facilities, or building operations experience. 
  • Technical certifications in maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related trades.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to climb ladders and work at varying heights. 
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
