Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Agriculture's Division of Cannabis Regulation is growing and seeks qualified candidates to ensure the success of this developing area. Under the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act the Department of Agriculture (IDOA) will issue up to 40 craft grower licenses, up to 40 infuser licenses, and an unlimited number of transporter licenses. Under the Compassionate use of Medical Cannabis Program Act, IDOA was charged with registering and regulating up to 22 cultivation centers allowed in the law. The Office Coordinator will assist with receiving, screening and coordinating renewal license applications. They will also assist in reviewing and approving product registration forms, variances forms, modifications, alterations, permit renewals, changes of ownership, issuing original and replacement cultivation ID cards for the Bureau of Licensing and Administration while adhering to the cannabis rules and regulations for the Division. The Department is tasked with licensing and regulating adult use cultivation centers, cannabis craft growers, cannabis infusers, cannabis transporters, and Community College Vocational Cannabis Pilot Programs. Essential Functions

  • Coordinates the review and approval of licensing program functions as assigned.
  • Assists with receiving, screening and coordinating renewal license applications and agent identification cards.
  • Determines office procedures and methods, and functions as the Spanish speaking translator and interpreter.
  • Prepares complex statistical reports and charts.
  • Assist with Gathering, reviewing, and analyzing FOIA requests inquiries.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college, or
    completion of high school and two years of related office experience, or two years of independent business experience.
  • Requires the ability to keyboarding accurately at the rate of 30 wpm.
  • Requires the ability to speak and write Spanish at the colloquial skills level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers extensive knowledge of office practices, procedures and programs.
  • Prefers extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Prefers extensive knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Prefers working knowledge of the logic of computer programs.
  • Prefers experience with following oral or written instructions.
  • Prefers experience in operating commonly used manual and automated office equipment and perform routine maintenance.
