Position Purpose:
At Mercy Medical Center, the Preprocedural Assessment Nurse plays a vital role in preparing patients for minimally invasive endoscopic procedures. This RN works primarily in a telephonic capacity through our centralized call center, conducting pre-procedure assessments and coordinating care. On occasion, this nurse may be asked to support the Endoscopy unit directly, assisting procedural nurses with patient care as needed.
What You Will Do:
Conduct telephonic pre-procedural assessments, patient education, and coordination with anesthesia to ensure readiness for endoscopic procedures.
Review and verify surgical charts, confirm procedure details with patients, and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
Provide occasional in-unit support to procedural nurses, assisting with direct patient care as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
Active RN license in the state of Massachusetts.
One or more years of acute inpatient nursing experience; Endoscopy experience strongly preferred.
Preferred:
BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross). Certification support is available post-hire.
Familiarity with the American Gastroenterological Nurses Association (AGNA) standards.
Position Highlights:
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week – Day Shift
Work Days: Monday through Friday
No weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements
