The Woodworker for the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Day Program is responsible for planning, facilitating, and supervising woodworking activities for program participants. The role supports rehabilitation, skill development, and therapeutic engagement in a safe, supportive environment tailored to the unique needs of individuals with ABI.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and implement woodworking projects appropriate for adults with varying physical, cognitive, and behavioral abilities.

· Provide hands-on instruction and supervision to participants, always ensuring safety.

· Adapt tools, materials, and processes to meet individual needs and promote accessibility.

· Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (e.g., occupational therapists, program coordinators) to align activities with participants’ rehabilitation goals.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free woodworking area.

· Monitor and document participant progress, engagement, and any incidents or concerns.

· Manage inventory of materials and tools, and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed.

· Foster a positive, inclusive, and therapeutic environment.

· High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in woodworking or carpentry preferred.

· Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly acquired brain injury, is highly desirable.

· Demonstrated skills in woodworking, tool safety, and project planning.

· Ability to communicate clearly and adapt instructions for diverse learning needs.

· Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials up to 25 lbs.

· Manual dexterity sufficient to demonstrate woodworking techniques and operate tools safely.

This is a 1099 independent contractor position. The pay range for this role is $25 - $30 per hour, based on experience, skill level, and project scope. Hours are currently flexible and will be determined by mutual agreement. Final compensation will be negotiated in good faith at the time of engagement.
