The Opportunity
The Corporate Function Program Management Office (CFPMO) is seeking a Project Portfolio Consultant to support MassMutual’s Corporate Functions. In this role, you will report directly to the Head of Corporate Finance, IM and ERM Portfolio and be responsible for supporting the cross-functional governance process that evaluates, aligns and reports on project priorities across the corporate functions. This is a coordination-heavy role that requires strong communication skills and an ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups.
The Team
The CFPMO was established to oversee the execution of initiatives across Corporate Finance, Enterprise Risk, Investment Management, Law, and HR & Employee Experience, as well as define and own project management standards across the company. The team is focused on driving and aligning the execution of critical programs and projects across our Corporate Functions, creating more visibility into this work, while enabling improved prioritization, collaboration, and execution. ​
Key Responsibilities
Cross-Functional Governance Support
- Coordinate and facilitate the cross-functional prioritization process across IM, CFO, and ERM strategic teams.
- Prepare meeting agendas, pre-read materials, and consolidated project summaries in collaboration with each function.
- Support the scheduling, logistics, and execution of cross-functional review meetings.
Documentation & Meeting Management
- Capture detailed and accurate meeting minutes, decisions, and follow-up actions during cross-functional sessions.
- Maintain documentation repositories, trackers, and templates used across functions.
- Ensure clear traceability of decisions and changes throughout the prioritization cycle.
Data Collection & Consolidation
- Gather inputs from each function’s prioritization outputs and consolidate information into consistent, enterprise-level views.
- Validate that project data is complete, current, and aligned to the required inputs for cross-functional review.
- Assist in maintaining dashboards or trackers that support visibility into cross-functional priorities.
Portfolio Reporting & Executive Materials
- Consolidate inputs from IM, CFO, and ERM project and program managers into clear portfolio reports that highlight overall health, status, risks, and key metrics.
- Produce concise, executive-ready decks that synthesize complex project and portfolio information for the Portfolio Lead and cross-functional stakeholders.
 Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as a bridge between the IM/CFO/ERM strategic teams and the cross-functional PMO or governance body.
- Coordinate with business sponsors, analysts, and strategic leads to resolve data gaps, verify submissions, or clarify project details.
- Ensure alignment on timelines, expectations, and deliverables for the enterprise review process.
Process Enablement & Continuous Improvement
- Recommend improvements to templates, communication flows, and documentation to streamline the cross-functional prioritization workflow.
- Help maintain consistency in how project information is represented across functions.
- Support the adoption of standardized practices and terminology across the enterprise.
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and expertise
- 2+ years of experience in project management, business analysis, consulting, PMO, or portfolio management.
- 1+ years of experience in Excel, PowerPoint, and project tracking tools
The Ideal Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in project management, business analysis, consulting, PMO, or portfolio management.
- Experience in financial services
- Strong collaborator who builds effective relationships across teams.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise materials and capture clear meeting minutes.
- Comfortable working with existing frameworks, templates, and processes.
