Position Summary

The Grants Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of grants development, administration, and reporting. This role supports the organization’s mission by identifying funding opportunities, preparing compelling grant proposals, managing grant compliance, and ensuring timely reporting to funders and organizational leadership.


The Grants Manager serves as a central communication link between programs, leadership, and the Board of Directors by providing grant-related updates, performance tracking, and funding reports.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Grants Research & Development

  • Research and identify public, private, foundation, and corporate funding opportunities aligned with NNCC’s mission and programs.
  • Maintain an annual grants calendar with submission deadlines, reporting requirements, and funding cycles.
  • Build and maintain relationships with grant funders and community partners.
  • Monitor trends in nonprofit funding and identify opportunities to diversify revenue sources.

Grant Writing & Proposal Preparation

  • Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, applications, and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with program staff and leadership to gather data, budgets, outcomes, and narratives for proposals.
  • Ensure proposals clearly communicate organizational impact, program goals, and measurable outcomes.
  • Coordinate grant budgets in partnership with finance and program departments.

Grant Management & Compliance

  • Manage all active grants from award through closeout.
  • Track grant deliverables, deadlines, expenditures, and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with funder requirements and organizational policies.
  • Maintain accurate grant records, contracts, and documentation.
  • Work closely with program and finance teams to monitor grant spending and outcomes.

Reporting & Organizational Communication

  • Provide regular updates to department leaders and the Executive Director on grant status, funding opportunities, deadlines, and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare grant performance summaries and funding pipeline reports.
  • Develop reports and presentations for the Board of Directors regarding grant activity, funding trends, and outcomes.
  • Assist leadership with strategic funding planning and organizational development initiatives.

Data Tracking & Evaluation

  • Track grant metrics, outcomes, and impact data for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain grant databases and reporting systems.
  • Support program evaluation efforts by collecting and organizing program performance data. 


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Communications, Business, or related field preferred; or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of grant writing and grants management experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment. 
  • Demonstrated success securing grants from foundations, government agencies, and private funders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain composed in a fast-paced environment 
  • Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and punctuality 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in community-based nonprofits or social service organizations.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and private grant compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of board reporting and nonprofit governance practices.
  • Experience working with diverse populations

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office-based setting with frequent interaction with the public 
  • Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods 
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15–20 pounds (e.g., office supplies) 
  • May require occasional evening or weekend support for events
