Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

The Job You Will Perform: 

Provide accounting support and analytical services to support plant operations. This individual must support and exemplify the vision and organizational values of International Paper.

 

The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, and based on changing business needs of the company.

 

1. Operational Collaboration & Support

Focus: Partnering with operations to drive efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with plant management, supply chain, and production teams to understand operational drivers and identify cost-saving opportunities. 
  • Serve as a region resource and assist sister facilities as needed. 
  • Coach safety in others and lead by example. 
  • Support assigned SBU (Strategic Business Unit)

 

2. Financial Analysis & Reporting

Focus: Evaluating performance, supporting strategic decisions, and delivering insights.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze performance and recommend actions to maximize financial return. 
  • Work under the direction of the Controller to prepare and analyze operational results, trends, customer profitability, capital projects, incentive plans, budgeting & forecasting, and special projects. 
  • Perform and coordinate regular and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis. 
  • Provide financial insights to support production initiatives, inventory management, and capacity utilization. 
  • Utilize systems as a source of research and analysis. 
  • Investigate, review, and evaluate financial transactions and recommend appropriate treatment. 
  • Support SBU (Strategic Business Unit) through:
    • MBR (Monthly Business Review) preparation and analysis
    • RCA/RCCM (Root Cause Analysis) aid in preparation and tracking
    • RBB (Regional Build Back) support and call preparation
  • Capital planning process, project development, forecasting and performance tracking 

 

 

3. Compliance, Controls & Policy Adherence

Focus: Ensuring integrity, accuracy, and adherence to internal and external standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Be familiar with financial policies and capital investment manuals. 
  • Assist the Controller in ensuring adherence to internal controls and company policies. 
  • Implement solutions to address control weaknesses. 
  • Support financial audits and compliance reviews. 
  • Participate in month-end close and prepare journal vouchers 

 

The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, business or related field required.

  • 3+ years of accounting and/or finance experience; work experience in manufacturing facility highly desirable.

  • Corrugated, printing, packaging and/or related finance experience in manufacturing environment a plus.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of general business management principles, internal financial management, and industry business practices.

  • Demonstrated skills to influence peers and management.

  • Demonstrated effective communication with business leaders at various levels and functions.

  • Must be a self-starter

  • Respond quickly and effectively to requests/concerns

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
