Job Summary:Ā Ā
TheĀ OSP FiberĀ MaintenanceĀ SupervisorĀ is responsible forĀ network relianceĀ toĀ includeĀ outage reporting to fiber cabinets,Ā fiberĀ splitterĀ cabinets,Ā andĀ fiberĀ developments.Ā The Maintenance SupervisorĀ is responsible forĀ coordinating and delegating all responsibilities to the maintenance team that falls underĀ them.Ā This will include any OT hours worked and anyĀ after-hoursĀ events, scheduled or unexpected.Ā Ā
Essential Functions:Ā Ā
Must be able to splice any type of fiber optic cable in any type of conditionĀ
Must be able to run and safelyĀ operateĀ a bucket truckĀ Ā
Must be able to run and safely operative a mini excavatorĀ Ā
Must haveĀ previousĀ experienceĀ maintainingĀ live optical / LOS networksĀ
MustĀ haveĀ critical thinking skills in potentially high stress situationsĀ
MustĀ understandĀ low voltageĀ theoriesĀ to include AC and DCĀ polaritiesĀ
Must understand AC to DC rectifying principlesĀ
Must understand PON and GPONĀ technologies and be able to troubleshoot outagesĀ
Must be able to run OTDR and troubleshoot fiber from network to end userĀ
Must be able to record all data and document that for management and engineeringĀ
Must understand backbone,Ā feeder,Ā and AP principals in FTTXĀ practicesĀ Ā
Must be able toĀ give directions and leadership to the team that falls under themĀ
Must be able toĀ orchestrate any controlled outagesĀ / repairs, this includes working with NOC, filling out and filingĀ theĀ appropriate paperworkĀ and working with theĀ appropriate channelsĀ for a successful controlled outageĀ
Must be willing to work extended hours, often preppingĀ scheduled eventsĀ during the dayĀ and working into the nightĀ
Must be able to differentiate the difference betweenĀ differentĀ sizesĀ and colors of cablesĀ
Experience conducting and providing trainingĀ to the teamĀ
MustĀ have experienceĀ with DOT regulationsĀ
Ability to communicate in person and by telephone, even at odd hours of the nightĀ
Maintains network integrity through preventive maintenanceĀ
Ability to use any equipment in a safe manner,Ā in accordance withĀ company, industry and regulatory standardsĀ
Works on regularly scheduled days as well as unscheduled days and beyond regular work hours asĀ requiredĀ
Skill in using a Windows-based computerĀ
Ability to prioritize and organize effectivelyĀ
Ability to work independently and with othersĀ
Ability toĀ plan theĀ teamāsĀ task / priorities weeks in advance, as well as manage anyĀ unplanned maintenance / outageĀ
Ability to read and repair from blueprints and/or wire diagramsĀ
Ability to complete mechanical tasks such asĀ fiber splicing, reading meters (volt, RF and Fiber), conductingĀ testsĀ and performing troubleshooting measures to achieve plant level requirementsĀ
Able to work in all-weather climatesĀ
As neededĀ repair and maintenance of headend electronics and critical infrastructure equipmentĀ
Complete daily production reports,Ā mark upĀ maps, keep track of work hours and complete āas-builtā maps for areasĀ workedĀ
SafelyĀ operateĀ and use bucket truck to complete maintenance assignmentsĀ Ā
Ability to workĀ majority nights shiftsĀ Ā
Ability to useĀ computer-basedĀ programsĀ requiredĀ to support the activation and verification of electronic equipment installsĀ
Able to work at varying heightsĀ from aĀ bucket truck,Ā as well asĀ ground level in underground vaultsĀ
Work within a team environment to ensure the full job scope is completed within the scheduledĀ timeframeĀ
Reach, push, pull, hold, grasp and perform fine manipulation task on cable and electronic equipmentĀ
Must be willing to lead by example and train all team members / new hires in safe and effecting maintenance practicesĀ
Must be willing toĀ work during holidays or during planned events due to the nature of this roleĀ
Must be able to work with other network providersĀ atĀ a high levelĀ on scheduling any new turn ups and scheduling anyĀ upgrades or decomsĀ Ā
Must be able to attend and lead meetingsĀ in regard toĀ the maintenance activities you, or your team preformĀ
Must be able to keep detailedĀ recordsĀ of all maintenanceĀ activities. ThisĀ includesĀ hours worked outside of normal business hours,Ā the timeĀ customers were down, how long the repairs took, how many customers wereĀ affected, howĀ long didĀ theĀ repair take, ETC.Ā
Must be able to take calls from theĀ teamĀ working maintenanceĀ activitiesĀ regardless of day or time. It will be your responsibility to lead the team andĀ assistĀ them when they haveĀ questions,Ā and you are not onsite with themĀ
