                                                                          SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR


Sandy Lane Hotel, an AAA Five Diamond, Forbes Five Star exclusive resort and a member of Leading Hotels of the World, is seeking to recruit a Systems Administrator.

 

The Role

The Systems Administrator will report to the Information Technology Manager  and will be responsible for overseeing the integrity and efficiency of our critical information and communication systems.  The successful candidate will supervise a team of IT professionals, ensuring that every digital interaction contributes to the legendary Sandy Lane experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and manage a robust backup and disaster recovery strategy, including regular testing to ensure business continuity. Proactively monitor system performance, applying updates, patches, and configuration changes to guarantee optimal security and efficiency.
  • Analyze server and network activity, maintaining detailed performance logs. Oversee critical security software including intrusion detection systems, advanced virus scanning applications, and enterprise email services.
  • Conduct routine audits of all software and systems to ensure 100% compliance with licensing agreements, optimizing costs and mitigating legal risks.
  • Maintain a meticulous record of all system changes, managing the change management process to ensure stability and minimize disruption to hotel operations.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights, ensuring data security while providing swift support for password resets and access issues.
  • Act as the final escalation point for complex system problems, employing diagnostic skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues with minimal downtime.
  • Continuously fine-tune systems, including servers, databases, and networks, to ensure peak performance capable of supporting a high-volume, luxury environment.
  • Install, configure, and integrate new hardware and software, ensuring seamless compatibility with our existing luxury technology ecosystem.



Our ideal candidate must possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Systems Administration, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or team lead role within a demanding, 'hands-on' IT environment.
  • Essential experience with Opera Property Management System (PMS) and Micros Point of Sale (POS) systems is highly preferred.
  • Expert-level, working knowledge of Microsoft Server environments (including legacy support for Server 2008, migration strategies, and modern equivalents like 2016/2019/2025).
  • SharePoint and SQL Server (including 2008 and modern versions).
  • Networking fundamentals, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
  • Office 365 and Microsoft Azure Administration
  • A recognized security certification such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA is highly preferred.
  • Microsoft Certifications, particularly Microsoft Cloud Administration, are a strong asset.
  • Proven experience managing IT projects from conception to completion, with a focus of on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Ability to think strategically and lead a team, managing and resolving complex technical challenges.
