A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REGISTERED NURSE CLINICAL SUPERVISOR

As an RN Clinical Supervisor, you are responsible for providing day to day support and oversight of the homecare and hospice staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborates and assists the Clinical Operations Leader with daily responsibilities such as checking daily referrals, assigning cases to staff, and ensuring client visits are made in accordance with agency and CMS regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and oversees new RN employee orientations including but not limited to the completion of all required competencies in 90 days of service, with a detailed development/performance plan for the first year of service.
  • Provides clinical oversight of home health and hospice plans of care reviews to ensure quality care and proper episode management.
  • Actively creates an environment of open two-way communication. Provides on-going coaching to staff to ensure compliance with accepted standards of practice.
  • Proactively takes action to address deficiencies in practice in a timely manner. Fosters professional, respectful relationships through coaching, supervision, active listening, giving and receiving feedback, etc.
  • Performs on-site reviews of nursing staff on an on-going basis (every six months, or as needed based on performance).
  • In collaboration with Director of Homecare and Clinical Operations manager, schedules, plans, coordinates, and deliver monthly team meetings and debriefings. Take action to ensure that meetings provide staff members with a variety of educational, clinical and operational information in an engaging and open environment.
  • Serves as a field RN as needed to meet operational needs. Expected to stay current on the essential functions of the RN position at all times
  • Proactively assists with RN orientation agendas, including but not limited to, documentation, preceptor pairings, staff development schedules, etc. Maintains contact with new employee and preceptor to ensure that staff is developing in an appropriate manner. Provides Human Resources department with on-going performance documentation in accordance with department policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A REGISTERED NURSE CLINICAL SUPERVISOR

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
  • Five years of home health clinical experience required with a minimum of two years in a supervisor position preferred. Prior experience in Hospice highly desired.
  • Valid Vermont State Nursing license required. Valid state driver's license required. Ability to successfully pass pre-employment driver record, criminal, adult and child abuse background check/review required. Must show proof of auto insurance at time of employment.
