Department of Communication Social Media Intern

The Department of Communication is seeking a motivated student to serve as a Social Media Intern and help create engaging, strategic content for the department’s social media channels.

Preferred Qualifications

We are primarily looking for students in the Communication (COM) program who meet at least one of the following qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a social media or (digital) marketing intern
  • Completion of COM 340: Social Media Management
  • A relevant digital marketing or social media marketing certification
  • Comparable experience demonstrating skills in social media strategy, content creation, or digital communication

Responsibilities

The Social Media Intern will help plan, create, and publish content for both seasonal/one-time announcements and recurring department series, including:

  • Student project showcases
  • Class and course spotlights
  • Faculty spotlights
  • Student spotlights
  • Alumni spotlights
  • COM-related events and announcements
  • Other department news, achievements, and engagement-focused content

The intern will also work closely with the Flagler College Social Media Team, PRSSA, and the COM Week Planning Team to support collaborative campaigns and departmental initiatives.

Time & Content Expectations

  • Plan and publish at least two pieces of content on Instagram (@flaglercom) per week
  • Commitment for approximately 12-15 weeks during the semester
  • Participate in weekly or biweekly meetings with Dr. Kim (FlaglerCOM Social Media Director)
  • Work collaboratively to plan strategic content tailored to COM students, prospective students, alumni, and other departmental audiences

 WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The position may require movement throughout campus and attendance at departmental events or activities to gather and create content.

The work schedule may vary based on content deadlines, scheduled meetings, events, and departmental needs.
