Job Title: Breed Barn Lead

 

 

Job Description: Implement and oversee breeding and management programs to allow our sows to produce the maximum number of farrows with the highest quality genetic traits.

 

 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Assist with the gestation process (breeding process) to ensure the sows become pregnant.
  • Assist with diagnosis and treatment of bred sows to produce the maximum number of healthy farrows.
  • Assist with updating all production records.
  • Responsible that all biosecurity protocols are in place and followed.
  • Responsible for analysis of all production metrics.
  • Participate in onboarding and lead new hire training. 
  • Administer production performance evaluations. 
  • Encourage employee development by identifying opportunities for growth within sow farms and company. 
  • Implement new ideas, and changes to obtain desired results. 
  • Update and maintain accurate farm records and reports. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • 1 year experience leading 2 or more employees. 
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Strong interest in working with animals with a desire to learn and self-develop.
  • Detailed oriented and meticulous
  • Ability to lead others in high demand situations. 
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. 
  • Ability to stand, walk and be on feet for 9+ hrs./day. 
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, squat and kneel.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
