Fisher Dynamics is currently seeking Maintenance Mechanics for our Harper Woods, MI facility. This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining equipment and machines to keep the plant running smoothly.

This position REQUIRES experience with Hydraulics

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. 
  • Install, maintain, and repair machinery and industrial equipment. 
  • Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic tools. 
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) activities to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. 
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and restore operations safely and efficiently. 
  • Ensure all work complies with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic codes, safety standards, and company policies. 
  • Follow and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during all maintenance activities. 
  • Support production by minimizing downtime and improving overall equipment reliability. 
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Collaborate closely with maintenance, production, engineering, and quality teams. 
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend effective corrective actions. 
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory in an organized and controlled manner. 
  • Provide technical support and training to operators and quality personnel (including red rabbit and operational support when required). 
  • Various other duties as required by the department

Experience

Five to seven years’ experience


Skills

Advanced equipment troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. 

Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 quality and environmental standards. 

Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, cutting, forming, grinding, tool sharpening, milling, and machine setup. 

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics. 

Knowledge of basic carpentry and HVAC systems. 

Experience performing time studies, machine repair, and tooling selection. 

Ability to operate basic metrology equipment, grease guns, grinders, hand tools, and other maintenance-related equipment. 

Familiarity with MIG and resistance welding cells. 

Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization. 

Basic to intermediate computer skills and strong math skills required to perform job-related tasks.


Licensure

Valid driver’s license, hi-lo license


Safety

Safety glasses and hearing protection required. Other safety equipment required on an as needed basis.

Working environment and physical requirements of this position are those typical of an office setting and manufacturing environment.


Physical Demands

Working environment and physical requirements of this position are those typical of a manufacturing environment. Job requires very frequent visual effort and concentration, and the ability to move throughout the plant, including second story areas. Must be able to identify colors for purposes of executing machine and equipment repairs. The ability to lift 40 pounds is required.
