We are currently seeking an experienced Weld Engineer for our Harper Woods, MI location.  The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, designing, developing, and improving manufacturing processes with special expertise in engineering.

 

 

 Responsibilities: 

 

  • Lead new welding development research
  • Troubleshoot welding issues both internally and with suppliers
  • Develop processes for quotations
  • Develop weld cell designs for efficient manufacturing
  • Develop and specify welding standards and best practices
  • Develop and specify welding equipment and components
  • Improve welding equipment OEE
  • Reduce welding scrap
  • Program management
  • Promote sound welding principles throughout the organization

Education

Bachelor's degree-Weld Engineering Technology

 

Experience

Five + years welding experience

Experience in automotive seating and/or mechanism environment

 

Skills

GD&T knowledge

Autocad 

Knowledge of IATF 16949

MTM 

Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook

Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel including customers, suppliers

 

Work Environment

50%  Engineering Office

50%  Production plant floor

 

Physical Demands

Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Ability to work 8 hours on production plant floor
