Position Summary:

The Chemical Worker is responsible for loading, unloading, moving, mixing, and packaging materials and chemicals within the plant in a safe and efficient manner. This role supports production and logistics operations by operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, filling containers, and ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and hazardous waste regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Load, unload, and move materials throughout the facility using forklifts, industrial trucks, hoists, and other material handling equipment.
• Read and interpret work orders and follow verbal instructions to determine materials and containers to be moved.
• Load and unload tank trucks and railcars.
• Fill drums, totes, pails, and other containers with hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals.
• Mix and package chemicals in accordance with established procedures and environmental regulations.
• Transport materials from storage locations and work sites to designated areas.
• Assist with hazardous waste management activities, including:
• Handling, generating, inspecting, and storing hazardous waste.
• Responding to and assisting with hazardous waste spills and incidents in accordance with site emergency and contingency plans.
• Preparing and maintaining hazardous waste documentation, including manifests, inspection logs, waste determinations, and related reports.
• Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations.

Qualifications:

                Required

• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One to three months of related experience and/or training.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and work procedures.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate percentages, ratios, and interpret basic graphs.
• Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
• Ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.
• Strong attention to safety and adherence to environmental regulations.

                Preferred

• Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing, processing, distribution, or industrial environment.
• Experience handling hazardous materials or hazardous waste.
• Forklift certification or prior forklift operating experience.
• Familiarity with hazardous waste documentation, manifests, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Work Environment:

• Work is performed in an industrial plant environment.
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment and material handling machinery.
• Frequent work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
• Regular exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and potential electrical hazards.
• Frequent work at elevated heights or in potentially precarious positions.
• Occasional exposure to vibration.
• Noise levels are typically loud, requiring appropriate hearing protection.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands for handling materials and equipment.
• Frequently required to communicate verbally and hear effectively in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with appropriate equipment or assistance.
• Must possess close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely in a manufacturing and chemical handling environment.
