About the Role:

As a Kennel Team Member, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of animals under our care. Your primary focus will be to maintain a clean, organized, and comfortable environment for all animals housed in the kennel facility. You will be responsible for monitoring animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns promptly to veterinary or supervisory staff. This role requires a compassionate and attentive approach to animal care, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a team to support daily kennel operations. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to providing a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical and emotional welfare of the animals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to safely handle and interact with animals of various sizes and temperaments.
  • Basic knowledge of animal care and hygiene practices.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a kennel, animal shelter, veterinary clinic, or related environment.
  • Certification in animal care or handling (e.g., Pet First Aid, Animal Care Technician).
  • Familiarity with common animal health issues and basic first aid.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Feed, water, and provide enrichment activities to animals according to established schedules and dietary requirements.
  • Monitor animals for signs of illness, injury, or distress and report observations to veterinary or supervisory staff.
  • Assist with the intake and release process of animals, including documentation and ensuring proper identification.
  • Support the team in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment, and communicate needs for restocking.
  • Follow all safety protocols and animal handling procedures to ensure the well-being of both animals and staff.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations and provide excellent care to all animals.
