Job Description:

Summary

This position is responsible for all functional areas of a prepared foods plant, ensuring the efficient operation of production shifts, maintenance personnel, safety, shipping, receiving, sanitation, scheduling, quality, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Efficiency: Oversee the smooth running of production shifts and maintenance personnel.
  • Safety & Quality: Ensure adherence to food safety, food quality, and legality standards.
  • Employee Development: Motivate managers to provide guidance and programs to enhance employee skills.
  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve issues related to the quality of incoming and outgoing goods.
  • Performance Review: Analyze cost and performance data to identify areas needing improvement.
  • Reporting: Compile monthly expense and efficiency reports.
  • TQM Philosophy: Promote and explain Total Quality Management (TQM) philosophy to employees.
  • Capital Improvements: Obtain approval and execute all capital improvements for plants.
  • Talent & Succession Planning: Facilitate Talent Mapping and Succession Planning Programs.
  • Retention Support: Support the Retention Program.
  • Continuous Improvement: Initiate discussions and implement improvements in all phases of production.
  • Problem Solving: Assist in identifying, evaluating, and correcting problems as they arise.

Requirements

Education

  • Requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field normally acquired through four years of college, resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Experience

  • Progressive 8 plus years of experience.
  • Applicable experience in the Food Processing Industry preferred.
  • Ready-to-Eat (RTE) food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment preferred.

Computer Skills

  • General knowledge of computer programs used in the operation of the production plant, such as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Prefer working knowledge of SAP systems.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Travel

  • 6 to 11 trips per year.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing several groups of personnel who perform diverse tasks and activities in more than one department.

Internal Qualifications:

• Must not have 4 or more attendance points for locations on an 8 point policy (on application date)
• No written warning in the past six (6) months
• No suspension on record for the last 12 months
