Neurodiagnostic Student (Full-Time) | St. Louis Children's Hospital

This full-time, paid training opportunity provides hands-on experience and structured education designed to prepare you for a Neurodiagnostic Technologist career path.

What You'll Do

  • Participate in a one-year neurodiagnostic training program combining online coursework and hands-on clinical experience.
  • Learn routine EEGs, long-term monitoring (LTM), ambulatory EEG, ICU monitoring, SEEG, and EEG telemetry.
  • Provide direct patient care while working alongside experienced neurodiagnostic professionals.
  • Develop technical, communication, and patient-care skills in a pediatric healthcare environment.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Occasional training/shadowing opportunities at BJC partner locations.
  • On-call and holiday rotations may begin after successful progression in the training program.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior healthcare or pediatric experience preferred but not required.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Eager to learn, receptive to feedback, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Assists the Neurodiagnostic Technologist with electroencephalographic testing in the laboratory and at the patient’s bedside, while completing an Accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology Certificate program. Trains on Academic Only testing which includes Long-Term Video EEG set up and monitoring, Evoked Potentials, routine and/or intraoperative Somatosensory Evoked Potentials. Completes all assignments and activities required of the Neurodiagnostic Certificate Program, ultimately earning the certificate. Is required to graduate from an accredited Neurodiagnostic Training Program within timeframe of contract.

 

Responsibilities

  • Completes all assignments and activities required of the Neurodiagnostic Certificate Program, ultimately earning the certificate.
  • Assists the Neurodiagnostic Technologist with procedures (Academic and Routine), performs limited procedures under the supervision of a technologist.
  • Participates in review sessions and clinical rotations as assigned.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
