Overview
Mercy is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Progressive Care Unit (MPCU). In this role, you will provide high quality, patient centered care to adults with complex medical conditions who require frequent assessments, continuous monitoring, and specialized nursing support. Our MPCU team delivers exceptional care in a collaborative, mission driven environment aligned with Mercy’s values of service, dignity, justice, excellence, and stewardship.

Position Details:

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with progressive medical needs, following evidence‑based practice and Mercy standards.
  • Monitor vital signs, neurological status, respiratory function, renal function, infection indicators, and overall patient responses—intervening promptly as needed.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures with accuracy and strong clinical judgment.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and post‑discharge care needs.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold patient safety practices within the MPCU.
  • Support Mercy’s mission by providing compassionate, holistic care in a healing environment.
     

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in medical progressive care, medical‑surgical, telemetry, or other progressive/acute care settings.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (or obtained within a specified timeframe).
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification (if applicable to patient population or unit protocols).
