Responsible to manage the delivery of nursing care to a specific patient population on a 24-hour basis while achieving quality clinical outcomes and maximizing the utilization of resources. Effectively managing the delivery of nursing care requires creating and promoting a professional practice environment at the unit level that exemplifies a vision and goals congruent with the Medical Center and the respective clinical service line as well as high levels of coworker engagement, patient satisfaction, safe and quality clinical outcomes, financial performance and physician satisfaction. Responsible to implement elements of the Nursing Strategic Plan within their departments. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Summary

The Nurse Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the Cardiovascular Operating Room, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and efficient department operations. This role collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to achieve clinical, quality, and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily CVOR operations, staffing, scheduling, and patient flow.
  • Lead and support nursing staff through coaching, performance management, and professional development.
  • Monitor quality, safety, and patient satisfaction outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Analyze operational and clinical data to drive performance improvement.
  • Manage department resources, productivity, and budget goals.
  • Foster a collaborative, patient-centered culture.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Internal transfer applicants without a Bachelor's degree may be considered if actively pursuing a Baccalaureate degree (enrolled and completing at least one course per semester).
  • BSN preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Licensure

  • Current RN License or RN Temporary Permit in the state of practice.

Experience

  • Minimum three years of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Leadership and perioperative/CVOR experience preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and healthcare information systems.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and support operational decision-making.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
