The Nurse Navigator is nursing specialist who follows patients across the continuum of care. The Navigator coordinates with an advanced level of clinical expertise, all aspects of treatment and care for, and in collaboration with, Mercy’s patients, their family and significant others, physicians, interdisciplinary team, and other support staff.

Location: Mercy South Sindelar Cancer Center - 10050 Kennerly Road, Suite 2600, St. Louis, MO 63128


Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday (40 hours/week)

Overview

Mercy South Sindelar Cancer Center is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Nurse Navigator to serve as a trusted guide and advocate for oncology patients and their families throughout their cancer journey. In this role, you will coordinate care, provide education, help remove barriers to treatment, and support patients from diagnosis through treatment, survivorship, and follow-up care. Working closely with oncologists, advanced practice providers, infusion nurses, social workers, radiation oncology, and other interdisciplinary team members, you will help ensure patients receive timely, coordinated, and high-quality care while delivering an exceptional patient experience.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate and navigate care for oncology patients throughout diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and survivorship.

  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, procedures, side effect management, and available support resources.

  • Facilitate communication between patients, providers, infusion services, imaging departments, specialty providers, and support teams.

  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized care plans.

  • Assist with referrals, appointment coordination, treatment scheduling, and transitions of care.

  • Monitor patient progress and proactively identify and address barriers to care.

  • Provide emotional support and connect patients and families with appropriate community resources, financial assistance programs, and support services.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC and other clinical systems.

  • Track patient outcomes and quality metrics to support evidence-based practice and program development.

  • Serve as a clinical resource for patients, families, providers, and staff throughout the continuum of cancer care.

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice

  • 2-3 years of nursing experience

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Oncology, infusion, hematology/oncology, care coordination, case management, or nurse navigator experience

  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification or willingness to obtain

  • Chemotherapy/biotherapy experience

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds

  • Prolonged standing and walking throughout the workday

  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, twist, squat, and perform other physical movements as necessary
