The Salvation Army Midland Division Headquarters located in St. Louis, Missouri, is looking for a Staff Accountant. This individual will be responsible for performing full charge bookkeeping/accounting for several centers of operation at the Regional Accounting Center (Midland Divisional Headquarters).

 

This is a full-time exempt position, 40 hours per week, with starting pay of $62,000 Annually.

Essential Functions

  1. Review accounts payable and receipting entries completed by Specialists
  2. Process, code and record complex invoices and reimbursement requests
  3. File monthly sales tax returns for units as required
  4. Prepare and input journal entries following established accounting procedures
  5. Perform bank account reconciliations for non-assigned locations
  6. Review ledgers associated with related funds and accounts

Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting/related field and two (2) years accounting/related field work experience. Combination of education and experience will be considered. Fluent in computer use with experience in spreadsheet, word processing and computerized accounting systems. Requires a high level of confidentiality. Must be a team player, a self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time and perform well with minimum supervision. Must demonstrate ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment.

 

Physical and Working Conditions

 

Must be capable of performing the above essential duties in an office environment to include using a computer, answering phones, etc. Most work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
