The Opportunity
Human Agency is building something in St. Louis that goes well beyond a single property. We have one residential account on the ground today and a clear intention to grow a real book of business in the metro area. This role is the foundation of that. We're looking for someone who can do the work excellently and, over time, help us grow the team.
This isn't a position where you clock in, mow a lawn, and clock out. We need someone who treats each property like it's their own, communicates proactively, and thinks about what comes next — for the property and for the business.Â
The right person here is someone St. Louis clients will trust on sight and want to call back every season. You'll be the face of Human Agency's landscape services in this market, and how you show up will define what this grows into.
What You'll Own
- Property Care: Deliver consistent, high-quality landscaping services for residential properties — lawn maintenance, seasonal cleanup, edging, pruning, and general upkeep executed to a high standard every visit.
- Client Relationship:Â Serve as the primary point of contact for property owners, communicating clearly about scheduling, observations on the property, and any issues that need attention.
- Business Development: Identify opportunities to add new residential or commercial accounts in the St. Louis area and bring them forward — this is a build role, not just a service role.
- Operations:Â Keep equipment maintained, schedules organized, and service records clean so nothing falls through the cracks as the workload scales.
- Quality Control: Hold every property to the same standard you'd want applied to your own — and hold any future crew members to that same bar.
Who You Are
Experience & Skills
- Proven hands-on experience in residential or commercial landscaping — you know how to read a property and plan the work, not just execute a checklist.
- Proficient with standard landscaping equipment: mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, and basic hand tools, with the ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Track record of reliability — clients and employers have counted on you, and you haven't let them down.
- Strong communicator, in person and by phone or text, with the ability to give property owners clear updates and flag issues before they become problems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to transport equipment to job sites across the St. Louis metro area.
- Familiarity with seasonal landscaping cycles in the Midwest — what needs to happen in spring, summer, fall, and winter and when to get ahead of it.
Mindset & Traits
- You treat a client's property with the same care you'd give your own — pride in the work isn't optional here, it's the baseline.
- You communicate without being asked. If something's wrong, you say so. If you're running late, you call. If you spot an issue, you bring it forward.
- You think like an owner. When you see an opportunity to improve a process, add an account, or do something better, you act on it rather than waiting for someone to tell you to.
- You're comfortable being the only person running this in the early days and motivated by the idea that your effort now shapes what this becomes.
- You hold a high personal standard and expect the same from anyone who works alongside you.
Compensation & Logistics
- Based in St. Louis, MO — this role requires in-person presence at client properties throughout the metro area.
- Full-time, year-round employment with seasonal workload variation.
- Open to contractor arrangement as well.
- Travel within the St. Louis region is required as part of normal daily operations.
- Equipment and logistics support provided; specific details discussed during the interview process.
