Lead Behavioral Health Technician – Evening Shift

Northstar Behavioral Health Network
Schedule: 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.
Pay: $21.50 per hour

Job Duties :

  • Maintain satisfactory performance with no corrective action during the first 90 days of employment.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance, with a grace allowance of one shift per month.
  • Have no more than two absences within a 90-day period, subject to case-by-case review and supervisory discretion.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities among colleagues.
  • Pick up a minimum of two shifts per week when the program is understaffed.
  • Participate with the Technician Supervisor in a biweekly rotating call-in coverage schedule.
  • Assist with grocery orders.
  • Audit Behavioral Health Technician duty checklists.
  • Assist with monthly rounding.
  • Assist with staff training and orientation.
  • Promote and reinforce consistent standards for all Behavioral Health Technicians.
  • Attend monthly supervisor meetings.
  • Maintain current knowledge of house operations, client needs, and scheduled activities.
  • Plan work responsibilities to coincide with programming requirements.
  • Set appropriate priorities when monitoring clients, conducting house rounds, documenting relevant information, and completing other assignments.
  • Remain available to clients for questions and assistance while communicating in a friendly, respectful, and dignified manner.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Minnesota statutes applicable to the populations served by Northstar Behavioral Health Network.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the program’s philosophy, policies and procedures, Minnesota Rule 245G requirements, house operations, client rights, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Assist counselors with intake and admission procedures.
  • Assist with the orientation of new clients and coworkers.
  • Participate in client recreational activities with a positive attitude.
  • Serve as a resource for clients by maintaining knowledge of services and opportunities available within the community.
  • Administer client medications and complete all required documentation accurately.
  • Document relevant client information in communication logs and other required forms.
  • Understand the program’s mission and how the Lead Behavioral Health Technician’s work supports and advances program goals.
  • Use sound decision-making skills, demonstrate good judgment, and maintain a realistic understanding of situations and concerns.
  • Objectively document client-related behaviors, interactions, concerns, and other relevant information in client records and communication logs.
  • Communicate diplomatically and demonstrate sensitivity toward the feelings, needs, values, and opinions of clients and staff.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for improvement by identifying operational challenges, gathering input from coworkers and leadership, and recommending practical solutions.
  • Respond constructively to feedback with an open mind and a willingness to improve.
  • Interact, communicate, and collaborate effectively with team members in support of Northstar Behavioral Health Network’s mission.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Complete clerical assignments, including faxing, copying programming materials, stocking packets and forms, preparing documents in Microsoft Word, and updating Excel spreadsheets.
  • Support staff and program leadership in making informed and appropriate decisions.
  • Launder agency linens and miscellaneous items as needed.
  • Keep coworkers informed of relevant client, staffing, and operational developments.
  • Assist with food preparation and household cleaning duties as needed.
  • Follow all attendance and absence policies.
  • Participate in rotational or off-shift schedules, including holiday rotations, as applicable.
  • Work additional hours or alternate shifts as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or attain within 30 days of employment
  • Must be able to pass a background check 
  • Knowledge of all MN Statutes related to providing services for the population NBHN serves, and willingness to learn, understand, and carry out regulations with integrity
  • Must understand and follow NBH's Drug and Alcohol Policy 
  • Must be at least 18 years old. 
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge in MS Office, and Google Suite programs
