Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students in a Setting 3/Center-Based classroom for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, in-person opportunity is ideal for educators who are passionate about creating individualized learning experiences and helping students with Autism and Cognitive Disabilities achieve meaningful academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.
Responsibilities
Provide specialized instruction to 3rd and 4th grade students with Autism and Cognitive Disabilities in a center-based classroom setting.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals and district requirements.
Differentiate instruction to meet individual learning, communication, behavioral, and sensory needs.
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, support staff, and families to promote student success.
Collect and maintain accurate data on student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
Implement positive behavior support strategies and create a structured, inclusive learning environment.
Participate in IEP meetings, team collaboration meetings, and professional development activities.
Foster student independence, social skills, self-advocacy, and functional life skills.
Qualifications
Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for Minnesota licensure.
Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Cognitive Disabilities preferred.
Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and compliance requirements.
Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities.
Commitment to supporting students through individualized and evidence-based instruction.
