Fairview is looking to hire a Supervisor of Health Information Management – Release of Information (ROI) to join our team. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position working Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is considered mobile, offering a combination of work-from-home flexibility and onsite responsibilities. The Supervisor must be available to work onsite as needed at the Midway Corporate Campus and Fairview Riverside University Hospital.

The Release of Information department operates in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with many moving parts and also supports a 24/7 call center. After-hours phone messages direct urgent medical record requests to the on-call staff member, and the ROI Supervisor participates in the department's on-call rotation to assist with urgent needs outside of regular business hours.

As Health Information Management continues to evolve, particularly with the rapid advancement of technology and artificial intelligence, the ideal candidate will also be comfortable embracing new technologies and understanding how AI and emerging tools can support and improve HIM and ROI operations. Flexibility and the ability to quickly adjust to changing priorities, workflows, and industry requirements are essential for success in this role.
The Health Information Management (HIM) Supervisor is responsible for one or more Health Information Management business units with responsibility for staff, daily operations, and performance outcomes. Provides daily leadership, oversight, guidance, and support to ensure the team meets daily work to achieve target objective. The role ensures the department's workflows, quality and performance meet the organization and Health Information Management department goals. The Supervisor of Health Information Management collaborates with the HIM Manager/Director to develop strategic plans, staff assignments, and goals to ensure operational efficiency. Acts as a subject matter expert, maintains system proficiency, and works with cross-functional Revenue Cycle departments, customers, and support departments to maximize efficiency and holistic experience and revenue potential. Strong, effective, and consistent oral and written communication is a vital requirement of the supervisor role. The Supervisor of Health Information Management may assist with daily work as needed, lead initiatives, oversee vendor performance and support with other business functions, as necessary
Responsibilities
- Sets, oversees, adjusts, and ensures daily production of work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor and drive adherence to meet performance of department metrics while managing staff to performance expectations this includes ongoing feedback, as well as coaching and counseling.
- Demonstrates financial acumen regarding metrics and sets specific goals, standards, and objectives for intra departmental processes collaboratively with leadership and other areas.
- Manages staff performance to include but not limited to hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, conducting professional development plans.
- Identify improvement opportunities and partner with operations leadership to implement. Improvement opportunities include but are not limited to system automation, workflow efficiency, metric performance, and people management.
- Partners with leadership to share assessed operational needs, establish decision making criteria, recommend changes, and implement modifications.
- Ensures that the actions of the team meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
- Continuously optimizes workflow and proactively identifies, communicates, and prioritizes opportunities for process improvement.
- Maintains and enhances team proficiency with system navigation and changes to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Provides oversight to ensure compliance with established laws, regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Ensures that both the team and oneself remain knowledgeable about and compliant with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Champions employee engagement, collaboration, and investment, fostering a positive culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Promotes a pathway for innovation to achieve top-tier performance within the Health Information Management Department.

Required Qualifications
- A.A./A.S. in Business, Health Information Management, or related area or 3 years of experience within an applicable Revenue Cycle Department may substitute for associate degree.
- 2 years of experience in a Health Information Management, Hospital/Clinic with similar duties and responsibilities.
- This experience must be in addition to three years of experience in lieu of associate degree requirement above.
- One or more of the following: RHIA, RHIT, or Microcredential appropriate for applied role (Release of Information, Health Data Literacy, or Patient Identification and Matching)
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S./B.A. Health Information Management, Business Administration, or related area
- 5 years in health information management with similar duties and progressive responsibilities.
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIT)
