WSB is seeking a graduate transportation planner to join their team. As a Transportation Planner you will support development and implementation of transportation projects by conducting technical analyses, preparing reports, and assisting with public outreach and grant writing. This role collaborates with senior staff and stakeholders to provide planning solutions that meet current and future community needs, contributing to the company’s mission of delivering innovative and effective infrastructure solutions.

 What you will do: 

  • Participate in transportation planning, environmental documentation, public outreach, and grant writing projects.
  • Typical projects include long-range transportation plans, corridor studies, sub-area plans, pedestrian and bicycle plans, federal environmental documents, and grant applications.
  • Conduct technical analyses and evaluations for transportation projects.
  • Write sections of reports and memos for various transportation planning projects.
  • Assist in developing materials for public and governmental agency engagement.
  • Support senior staff as directed on project tasks.
  • Apply transportation methods, planning principles, and standard industry evaluations and analyses with input and guidance from senior staff.
  • Communicate ideas clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • May remain in stationary position for extended periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 What you will bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in transportation, urban planning, civil engineering, or related field from an accredited program, or a Master’s degree in a similar field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of applicable experience, including previous experience as an intern or in a professional capacity.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification required (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Microsoft Suite Products (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc).
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard office equipment.
  • Travel or field visits may be required to support project needs or stakeholder collaboration.
