Purpose: Responsible for overall daily management of team responsible for options and activities that are intrusive to the normal flow of weld production. This includes participation in production scheduling and planning, quality assurance and supervising production personnel. Coordinates with production control and production staff in order to meet customer demand deadlines.

Essential Job Functions

  • Participate in the scheduling and planning of weld production on a daily basis as directed by customer change orders.
  • Ensure adequate supplies of materials are on-hand to complete weld production requirements.
  • Staff according to weld production demand.
  • As needed, perform welding duties.
  • Evaluate production process and recommend any means by which costs and time can be reduced while maintaining Schwing standards. 
  • Run production reports (ex: labor, quantities, key measurables) for evaluation by Weld Shop Manager and Director of Operations.
  • Supervise department employees.
  • Coach/train/motivate staff to increase productivity.
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are met.
  • Conduct performance evaluations. 
  • Participate in the hiring, termination, and disciplinary process. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Physical Demands:

  • Perform stationary work 30% of the time using a computer and applicable office equipment
  • Perform work in the plant facility 70% of the time 

Education/Skills/Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required 
  • Must be a subject-matter expert in one of the following SAI areas and able to satisfactorily perform the others:
    1. Truck prep
    2. SP Assembly
    3. Electrical
    4. Welding
    5. Final inspection/test
    6. Paint
  • 8 plus years of industry experience, technical experience a plus
  • Previous experience supervising employees strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills 
  • Basic PC skills (Outlook, Word, Excel), knowledge of SAP a plus
  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks and coordinate complex activities
  • Excellent attention to detail and customer service skills
