SUMMARY: Under the direction of management, in line with established policies and procedures, the Commercial Banking Associate coordinates and reinforces the sales efforts of the commercial banking staff, by managing the administrative work and documentation related to commercial banking and lending, as well as providing customer service to the commercial customer base.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Provide general customer service to all customers in Commercial Banker portfolios, including responding to inquiries regarding loan activities, real estate items, balances, payoff amounts, interest accruals, and billing statements.
- Approve and open new Commercial deposit accounts, maintain existing account portfolios, and manage daily customer service interactions. Monitor and resolve overdrafts, non-posts, and account exceptions.
- Conduct regular care calls to maintain customer relationships, address service issues, and identify potential sales opportunities. Update customer portfolio records to ensure accuracy.
- Coordinate interactions between account officer, cash management and customer regarding the sale or service of specialized cash management products.
- Perform pre-close and post-close loan reviews for business loan requests, ensuring compliance, regulatory adherence, and lien perfection while minimizing documentation exceptions.
- Maintain the tickler database for required insurance and financial documents, including personal financial statements, tax returns, and annual or interim statements. Provide exception reporting and follow-up support to account officers and contact customers when necessary to collect required information or clear exceptions.
- Assist account officers with annual loan reviews and renewals, including maintaining organized digital credit files, initiating renewal processes with customers, and completing loan documentation and disbursements.
- Identify new business and personal banking opportunities within the Commercial customer base.
- Maintain the privacy and security control of all customer records. Report suspicious activity and security concerns.
- Manage assigned projects related to commercial banking initiatives and provide backup support to other positions as needed.
- Support, advance, and be responsible for meeting bank and department quality service standards.
- Assists with ordering and reviewing collateral verification documentation.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate’s Degree (A. A.) in Business, Finance, Sales or related field from an accredited college or university; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three to five years of experience with business lending documentation is preferred.
