Note: This position follows our hybrid-friendly schedule, so you get the best of both worlds – flexibility and collaboration. In office days will be 3 per week in our St Petersburg, FL Corporate Office.

Job Description

Raymond James is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to spearhead delivery of a critical portfolio of enterprise applications within our digital documentation and workflow automation platform. As a Manager of the Software Engineering team, you'll own the delivery of multiple applications that clients and advisors depend on every day, including mission critical systems that are foundational to firm’s operations. This position is accountable for a suite of applications spanning digital form automation, electronic signature workflows, brokerage back-office processing, and the Service Center - a centralized dashboard for managing approvals and operational activity. This leader will partner closely with business stakeholders to shape and execute a strategic and tactical delivery roadmap.

 
Your Impact:

  • Drives IT solutions to ensure they meet the business needs balanced with a pragmatic and integrated approach to the design of technical solutions.

  • Understands and applies enterprise wide thinking to individual departmental requests for IT investments to ensure end-to-end process and data integration are achieved.

  • Leads projects to successful completion as defined by predetermined project success criteria including those established by the business, capital expenditure and budget requirements.

  • Works with vendors to implement off the shelf solutions as well as modified versions of their products

  • Influences the prioritization of business unit technology projects, optimal project structure and project administration to ensure strategic business objectives are met and risk is managed.

  • Focuses on workforce management to accurately capture IT resource capacity involving resources (internal and/or external), processes and practices.

  • Develops and maintains development methodology (templates, processes and deliverables) and ensures all IT resources understand their responsibilities in this process.

  • Partners with Architecture Team to assess how technologies can best streamline processes and/or add business value.

  • Provides quick project turnarounds and flexibility by leveraging SDLC methodology and industry best practices.

  • Remains up to date on key technology, business and industry trends.

  • Develops budget/ annual goals and objectives; holds organization accountable for attaining goals and objectives.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of relevant experience in management or leadership experience.

  • Financial services industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Must have management experience leading geographically dispersed teams, coordinating development activities across organizational lines, and successfully delivering applications with medium to large complexities. Managing resource allocations and budget to ensure resources are most efficiently utilized.

  • Experience managing technical resources to deliver software projects both vendor purchased and in-house developed. Working with vendors for software solutions.

  • Experience implementing scalable, distributed and highly responsive financial applications using Angular, Java, REST/Micro Services, .NET, SQL (Microsoft and Oracle), and related technologies. Agile methodologies.

  • Possess highly effective written and oral communication; excellent organizational and project management skills, and team player that is assertive, passionate, and goal oriented.

  • Uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to act independently while guiding and training others on developing software using programming languages.

  • Applies comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently while providing guidance and training to others on acquiring, organizing, protecting and processing data to fulfill business objectives.

  • Uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently while providing guidance and training to others on planning, organizing, prioritizing and overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectives.

  • Strong critical thinking and ability to think out-of-the box.

Bachelor’s: Computer and Information Science, Bachelor’s: Information Technology, High School (HS) (Required)
