CAN Community Health is now hiring a Primary Care Physician

Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift | Monday-Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Friday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Pay Rate: $310,000 - $340,000 annually based on experience

What You’ll Do

A Primary Care Physician with CAN Community Health, Inc. is responsible for providing sensitive, quality health care and related services targeted to patients requiring treatment for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Primary Care. The Primary Care Physician is responsible for screening, diagnoses and treatment of patients and providing care in a sensitive and non-judgmental manner. The Primary Care Physician will make appropriate internal and external referrals and is expected to maintain a high degree of professional competence while adhering to the highest possible ethical standards. 

  • Provide high quality comprehensive care and treatment to new and established patients for CAN Community Health, Inc.
  • Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families.
  • Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs.
  • Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments.
  • Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of health care.
  • Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
  • Orders studies, test and ancillary services.
  • Documents all services in patient medical record, Greenway/EHS, in a timely manner.
  • Reviews on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attention.
  • Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.

Requirements

Education/Professional:

 

  1. Primary care physician (Family Med or Internal Med) with at least 7 years of experience and preferably 10 or more years in an outpatient primary care setting (preferably high volume clinic)
  2. Skilled in primary care office-based procedures (skin lesion removal/biopsy, orthopedic joint injections, Incision and Drainage of abscess)
  3. Experience in leading provider team that includes nurse practitioners and physician assistants
  4. Medical Degree from an accredited Medical School and Residency Training Program
  5. Current Medical license (Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy) in the state or states of practice
  6. Board Certified/ Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or Infectious Disease
  7. AAHIVM certification if not an infectious disease specialist
  8. DEA certification
  9. Substantial experience in HIV primary care, minimum of 3 years.
  10. Experience in sexually transmitted infection screening, treatment, and education, preferred within a harm reduction model of care.
  11. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license.
