Special Education Teacher – High School

Location: Stafford Springs, CT
Position: Full-Time
Level: High School
Tenure: ASAP through the end of the 2026–2027 school year

We are seeking a High School Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and academic support while helping students develop the skills needed for success in school, work, and beyond.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver instruction aligned with individual IEP goals.
  • Provide academic, behavioral, and organizational support to students.
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate IEP-related documentation.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate on student goals and services.
  • Work closely with general education teachers and related service providers.
  • Support students in developing independence, self-advocacy, and transition skills.
  • Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Communicate regularly with families and members of the educational team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Valid Connecticut Special Education teaching certification.
  • Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs preferred.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of IEP development, accommodations, and instructional modifications.
  • Commitment to supporting students academically, socially, and in preparation for post-secondary goals.
