Responsibilities:

The position will helping guide and support Stamford Hospital research financial operations and indirectly impact patient care by interacting with physicians and research coordinators directly involved in patient care. It will help mitigate the compliance and financial risks associated with clinical research.           

  • Develops timely and accurate Medicare Coverage Analyses
  • Has access to Stamford Hospital’s Charge Description Master (CDM) and helps to develop an up to date CDM for clinical research
  • Utilizes MCA billing grid to develop budgets for all items and services provided by Stamford Hospital for clinical research projects
  • Coordinates the negotiation and execution of study agreements with PIs ensures that Stamford Hospital is indemnified
  • Serves as on-site liason to investigators for MCA issues and assists in SOPs to ensure SH compliance w/federal, state & local laws
  • Has primary responsibility for managing, implementing and monitoring compliance with the clinical trial management system
  • Interfaces closely with clinical research coordinators, investigators and Pharmacy, Registration, Department Directors, Risk Management, and Compliance to help ensure that all clinical research event are captured in a timely and accurate manner
  • Either obtain or prepares key research financial reports for internal distribution to departments, Investigators and research staff
  • Reviews research expenditures against budgeted amounts and against revenues
  • Monitors trial accounts and assists trial personnel with financial and administrative problems that arise
  • At trial completion, supports Accounting personnel in their reviews of expenditures and receipts to ensure that all are accounted
  • Demonstrates effective professional communication and facilitates and models open communication amongst all SH research staff
  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of communication and Fosters professional presentation of verbal & written communication
  • Stays abreast of regulatory developments to ensure that Stamford Hospital policies are consistent with up to date information

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in life sciences or an applicable related field with three (3) years of relevant experience;
  • Or five (5) years of relevant work experience. An applicable field may be business administration, accounting or research experience
  • Human Research Subject Protection certification
  • Knowledge of key financial regulations regarding research: FDA / OHRP / ORI / DHHS 
  • Highly preferred that there is understanding of Medicare billing rules and National Coverage Decisions and CMS research policy
  • Experience in a healthcare or hospital setting strongly preferred
