KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Human Resources Manager position is responsible for aligning HR strategy with business objectives, partnering with our plant-based HR teams to deliver results and ensure a positive and inclusive work environment. Reporting to the Harvest Hill CHRO, this key HR role acts as backup for the CHRO and is the centralized point of contact for the plant-based HR teams and HQ, aligning processes and activities to ensure consistency and compliance.


The HR Manager is responsible for all aspects of HR support for their area of responsibility, including leadership development, talent management, talent acquisition, performance management, coaching, and culture initiatives.


Employee Relations

  • Develops and maintains strong partnerships with leaders, acting as a trusted advisor and business partner to lead HR delivery for area of responsibility.
  • Leads investigations into employee complaints, conflicts, and disputes, conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations ensuring equity, fairness, and consistency. Maintains confidentiality and impartiality throughout the process to ensure a fair and consistent resolution. 
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to leaders (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, corrective/disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with plant leadership and employees to improve local culture, including working relationships, building morale, and increasing productivity, and enhancing retention.


Talent Acquisition: 

  • Responsible for employee recruiting, selection, pre-employment screening and onboarding. 
  • Acts as subject matter expert on recruiting platforms (internal and external), providing guidance and support to plant-based HR team
  • Assesses and recommends activities to drive recruiting strategy; enhancing candidate engagement, quality of candidates, and return on investment in talent acquisition tools and programs. 
  •  Builds relationships and liaises with recruitment agencies as necessary for senior or hard to fill positions. 


Total Rewards: 

  • Acts as primary benefits administration resource for Harvest Hill and all plants, building a relationship with vendors and ensuring timely resolution to issues.
  • Oversees annual enrollment process including communications, ensuring accuracy of materials, and system set-up and functionality. 
  • Provides recommendations and guidance on benefits programs. 
  • Conducts compensation activities including performing salary surveys, job evaluation/classification, determining FLSA status, internal/external equity analysis, and developing job descriptions.


Talent Management / Learning & Development: 

  • Develops and supports plant learning and development programs, including leadership initiatives, and facilitates training to strengthen workforce capabilities and compliance. 


Compliance & Reporting

  • Provides guidance for interpreting, applying, and clarification of company policies and procedures.
  • Oversees leaves and accommodations processes such as ADA, FMLA, Workers Compensation, etc.; manages employee leaves for HQ and field employees; provides guidance and oversight to plants to ensure compliance with regulations and consistency across all locations. 
  • Maintains awareness of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Reviews payroll processing, partnering with central payroll department to ensure all HQ & field-based employee payroll and timekeeping data is accurate for processing. Troubleshoot payroll/timeclocks to ensure system is operating properly. Train employees and supervisors on payroll processes and requirements. Supervise HR & Payroll Coordinator. 
  • Analyzes HR metrics and workforce data using Excel, analytics tools, and Power BI to identify trends, improve processes, and provide actionable insights to leadership.


Vendor Management & Oversight

  • Oversees HR system, compensation, and benefit HR vendor relationships and communications, ensuring appropriate data feeds, reporting, timely invoice review and payment, and records management. 


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources Management or related field.
  • 7+ years experience in human resources 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of labor & employment laws 
  • Successful track record of establishing credibility and trust with a diverse client group.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, judgment, and influencing skills. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.

Preferences: 

  • 1+ years of broad-based compensation experience which may include, but is not limited to, performing salary surveys, job evaluation/classification, determining FLSA status, internal/external equity analysis, and developing job descriptions 
  • 1+ years of benefits administration and/or plan design
  • 1+ years of talent acquisition/recruiting
  • 1+ years of experience with ADP Workforce Now, ADP Enhanced Time & Attendance, or other ADP payroll and HRIS products
  • Experience supporting multi-site organizations


Job Location: This position is full-time, office-based in Stamford, CT (5 days/week). 

 

Travel: <5% - Ability to travel to plants as needed
