Responsibilities:
The Nurse Manager of the Staffing Office is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Staffing Office to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient care. This role coordinates staffing allocation across all nursing units, supervises scheduling personnel and staffing systems, and collaborates closely with nursing leadership to forecast workforce needs, optimize resource utilization, and maintain appropriate staffing levels hospital-wide.
The Nurse Manager of the staffing office plays a critical role in advancing person-centered care by ensuring safe, equitable, and patient-focused staffing practices that align caregiver skills, experience and preferences with patient needs. Through proactive workforce planning, real-time staffing decisions, and collaboration with clinical leaders, the manager supports continuity of care, reduces caregiver fatigue, and promotes an environment where patients receive individualized, high-quality care delivered by engaged and appropriately resourced nursing teams.
- Lead daily operations of the Staffing Office to ensure safe, effective and compliant staffing across units.Â
- Develop and manage real-time, short-term, and long-term staffing plans based on census, acuity and forecasted demand.Â
- Coordinate staffing allocation, including float pool, overtime, call-outs, and supplemental staffing resources.Â
- Partner with nursing leadership to anticipate workforce needs and resolve staffing challenges proactively.Â
- Supervise staffing office personnel and ensure effective use and accuracy of staffing scheduling systems.Â
- Monitor labor utilization, overtime and staffing expense, implement strategies to control costs and support budget and overtime reduction goals.

Qualifications:
- ASN or BSN Required from an Accredited Program.Â
- Must be a registered nurse recognized by the state of ConnecticutÂ
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in nursing operations, or healthcare workforce management.Â
- At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience within a hospital.Â
- Experience collaborating with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams.
- Previous experience with centralized staffing offices and/or float pool management preferred.
